Lesson Learned…AGAIN!!

Posted by On August - 20 - 2011

Do you wonder if you’ll ever learn? What I mean is, does it seem you need to be taught the same lesson over and over again? I do. Case in point… My husband started his own business a little over a year ago. We knew it was a crazy time economically to do this. We knew we were taking a big chance – him quitting his great paying, full benefits, stable job – crazy right? But we felt it was the right move for him. We had faith that the Lord was directing our actions. Things started off great! His business started off booming! We were so excited! His business is still booming. He has employees who get their paychecks without any problem. He is able to pay all of the business expenses with no problem. But here is the catch, not much money has found its way into our family bank account as of yet. He absolutely cannot work any harder than he already is; there just aren’t enough hours in the day. So what is the problem? We keep the commandments. We pay... Read the rest of this entry »

Teaching Your Child Values

Posted by On August - 20 - 2011

Some parts of parenting are simple:feed your child and let him restkiss his boo boos and dry his tears But some things are not as simple. Teaching a child honesty, integrity, friendliness, courage, unselfishness and self-discipline requires more than an occasional lecture on the subject. I recently found a site that give ideas on how to teach these values to children in a monthly list.  Check it out: The Power of Moms by Lilly J http://www.ilovethewaysheblogs.blogspot.com/ http://www.happydotmom.blogspot.com/ ***************************************************** Enjoy what you just read? With the growing legalization of gay marriage in the United States, talk about legalizing other marital relationships between consenting adults, to include the practice of plural marriage where one man marries many women, is beginning to surface. Not only do the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints practice plural marriage, but the Muslim Quran recognizes plural marriage as valid and authorizes Muslim men to be married to as many as four women simultaneously. So the question naturally arises as to whether or not the mainstream Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints would reinstitute the practice of plural marriage should it become legal in the United States. LDS officials have not addressed this question publicly, but the question is explored by Salt Lake Tribune reporter Peggy Fletcher Stack in an article entitled “Will polygamy return for LDS here and hereafter?”. She cites Brigham Young University political science professor Valerie Hudson, who opines that even if plural... Read the rest of this entry »

The Word Of Wisdom For Today ~

Posted by On August - 19 - 2011

Good Nutrition and Exercise- Our Word of Wisdom ~ Here it almost September and I feel like I haven’t  had a chance to enjoy the summer. Part of the reason for this is because of the weather and another reason was recovering from ankle surgery. We had a very very long spring. I can feel fall in the air; and it is one of my favorite seasons of the year. I am a goal setter but not good at being a doer. Thus when September comes every year; I re- evaluate my goals that I set for January. For the past 30 + years my goals each January are the same. I do add a couple of new ones every year; but basically the goals are  identical to the year before. A majority of these goals have not been reached at least in their fullness.A few of the items on my forever list are to lose weight, exercise more, eat less and eat what is good for me. Mind you I have been struggling with weight issues for years. I am what is called a Yo Yo dieter. I never start a diet... Read the rest of this entry »

If you’re going to break into a car and steal a stereo, don’t do it in the parking lot of a chapel where missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are having a conference. That’s the lesson learned by one drug addict who’s in jail today as a result. The Ogden Standard-Examiner and KSL Channel 5 report that a man subsequently described to be high on drugs had broken into a car parked at the LDS chapel located at 4555 W. 4000 South in Hooper, Utah. He was removing the stereo when nine LDS missionaries suddenly emerged from the chapel. From the account given by the Weber County Sheriff’s Department on their Facebook page: “The missionaries asked the suspect to please re-install the stereo, which he did. The suspect had a conversation and a short cry with the missionaries. They took his picture. He then left in a vehicle. The missionaries got the license plate”. Later that same day, the suspect was found at a different church in... Read the rest of this entry »
