LDS Scriptures Audiobook and MP3
The Church has released an audio version of the Book of Mormon, Bible, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price for free download on iTunes in audiobook and MP3 formats. The audiobook format makes it easy to download an entire volume of scripture in one file. MP3 files for individual chapters are also available for free download. This is the same audio as found on the Church’s scripture CDs, but at a higher quality. It also allows you to listen to an entire volume of scripture without having to change discs. The audio of all the standard works is available in English and Spanish, and the triple combination is available in Japanese, Portuguese, and Korean. Do Mormons believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ?
Q: Do Mormons believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ? A: Oh, yes. You probably won’t hear members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints call it the rapture, and you shouldn’t hear predictions of a certain day or time or year when He will come again from Mormons, but we do believe that He will come and that it’s important to live each day in a way that shows that we want to be ready for whenever that day may come. We plan to write a little more about this soon, but in the meantime, here are some scriptures and articles from lds.org about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. (You can find nearly 10,000 results at lds.org if you search for “second coming”) Elder recently talked about this in General Conference. Here are some of the scripture references he included in his talk: You can find a list of other scripture references from the Bible here. And read scriptures from the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price Following... Read the rest of this entry »
Samoan LDS Scriptures Now a Triple Combination
I just saw the following bit of exciting news, found on the News and Events webpage of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: A Samoan edition of the triple combination of the scriptures–the Book of Mormon; the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, and the Guide to the Scriptures, a study aid, all bound together–is now available in local Church distribution centers and at store.LDS.org. Those familiar with me and my blog know that I served a full-time, two-year mission to the Samoan islands, beginning in 2001. Ten years ago we were hearing rumors of this project, and now it has come to complete fruition. You can imagine how stoked I am. Though the Samoans have had the LDS scriptures in their language for many years, this is the first time all three volumes have been bound together with the footnotes, maps, chronologies, etc. The Book of Mormon was first translated into Samoan beginning in 1900, and was finished sometime in 1903; whereas the Doctrine... 150 Million Copies of The Book of Mormon
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that it has printed 150 million copies of The Book of Mormon since its first printing in March 1830. See articles in Church News and Events and in the Newsroom. Pretty impressive: 150 million copies in 181 years.
