I know that you will be shocked to see that I have written a blog post two days in a row . . . something that I haven’t done for a while. Well, I hope to get back into the swing of writing here more frequently for those of you that do read it. Things have just been quite busy the last month with my becoming one of the district leaders here in the Referral Center and with everything going on during the Christmas season. However, that is one thing that I love about my mission: being busy and always having something to do to further the work that Christ has given us. As I have strived to do my best in every task and opportunity that I am given, I have seen how Heavenly Father has blessed me to accomplish these things in at time and a manner that I know I wouldn’t be able to do without His help. I have definitely seen that over the past month with everything that I have been doing. I thought I would go ahead and write about my Christmas experience before... Read the rest of this entry »

Come Unto Christ
What a wonderful day it is to consider together our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. I’m grateful to partake of the sacrament with you and to renew my covenant to remember him and to follow him. I’m not sure that I really understood the significance of that covenant when I first took it upon myself at age eight. I’m still trying to understand what it means to really keep that covenant each day. Some days I do better than others. Sundays are a joy to me because I spend them in activities that are centered on the mission of the church – to invite all to come unto Christ. It’s during the week that I sometimes struggle to remember Him. I suppose it’s a life-long pursuit, isn’t it? – To figure out how to really come unto Christ as we have been commanded to do. As Moroni taught, “Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness … love God with all your might, mind and strength …” – Moroni 10:32 Another Book of... Can I Endure Like Him?
Just the other day, I was looking through the Hymn book, and I came across Hymn number 191 “Behold, the Great Redeemer Die.” I have sung this song many times during my lifetime, but there was just something about this certain time that really struck me about it. I don’t know if it was just the fact that I was more in-tune with the Spirit or what, but the words just seemed to jump out of the page and into my mind and heart. I just wanted to share some of my thoughts about this with you. As you continue reading, I found this fantastic piano arrangement of this song that you can enjoy. 1. Behold the great Redeemer die, A broken law to satisfy. He dies a sacrifice for sin, He dies a sacrifice for sin, That man may live and glory win. 2. While guilty men his pains deride, They pierce his hands and feet and side; And with insulting scoffs and scorns, And with insulting scoffs and... Read the rest of this entry »
Why is Jesus Christ Called the Son of Man?
Why is Jesus Christ called the Son of Man? While others in the Scriptures (particularly the Old Testament) who are called “son[s] of man” (Jeremiah 49:18, Ezekiel 4:16, Psalms 8:4), the word “son” is uncapitalized. Elder James E. Talmage, a Biblical scholar, sheds light on the answer in his renown work, Jesus the Christ. He says, “In applying the designation to Himself, the Lord invariably uses the definite article. ‘The Son of Man’ was and is, specifically and exclusively, Jesus Christ. While as a matter of solemn certainty He was the only male human being from Adam down who was not the son of a mortal man, He used the title in a way to conclusively demonstrate that it was peculiarly and solely His own. It is plainly evident that the expression is fraught with a meaning beyond that conveyed by the words in common usage. The distinguishing appellation has been construed by many to indicate our Lord’s humble station as a mortal, and to connote that He stood... Read the rest of this entry »
Clip from Finding Faith in Christ
There is a short clip compiled by LDS Brothers here on YouTube that shows the opening scene of the video Finding Faith in Christ, produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The scene reenacts a passage from the New Testament. To view the entire video, please go to the multemedia section of the LDS Church at http://jesuschrist.lds.org. For God so lived the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16) To quote from The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles - http://www.lds.org: He was the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Messiah of the New. Under the direction of His Father, He was the creator of the earth. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made (John 1:3). Though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He went about doing good (Acts 10:38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill.... The Law of Sacrifice Part III – In Remembrance
The evening before the Lamb of God was to be crucified for the sins of the world and hours before He was betrayed, the Lord Jesus was sitting with his Apostles in a “large upper room” (Mark 14:15). It was here that He first instituted the sacrament: “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and [...] Read More →
The Law of Sacrifice: Part II – A Great and Last Sacrifice
Jesus the Christ fulfilled the law of Moses as the great and last sacrifice. All believers before His sacrifice looked forward to Him by offering blood sacrifices which were types and shadows of the ultimate sacrifice that would later end blood sacrifices. Now, we look back to this great event by taking the emblems of His flesh and His blood. Read More →
The Law of Sacrifice: Part I – Looking Forward
