When speaking to Timothy, the Apostle Paul related the following: 16 All scripture given by inspiration of God, and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all … Continue reading → Read More →

Enduring Afflictions in the course of our days: 1 Nephi 1:1
1 Nephi 1:1 Nephi shares with us a unique perspective. He sums up his life experience with the following statement: … having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; … Continue reading → Read More →
Rachel vs. Leah
I’ve been reading the Old Testament, and one of the things that have caught my eye is the rivalry between Rachel and Leah. The basic setting is, that Jacob is more fond of Rachel, but Leah is the one who bears children to Jacob, and in their nomadic society children were an asset, not a [...] Read More →
New research and evidence for a goddess wife in Ancient Israel
Critics of the Latter-day Saint faith take issue with the idea that the restored Gospel teaches the idea of humanity having the potentiality of becoming like our Heavenly Father. In its proper and simplistic context, the doctrine is based on the idea of eternal progression and involves the concept of deification. Not only do modern [...] Read More →
A Brief Response to MMMO
MMMO is short for Mormon Mission Midwest Outreach and another of many counter-cult Ministries that have established themselves on Facebook. On their wall posting, they posted the following question: Are Jesus and Satan brothers? And, if any Latter-day Saint apologist could show forth from the Bible whether or not this is true. The reason this [...] Read More →
Banned for “Lying and Whining” – Typical Behavior of Counter-Cult Groups
Recently, I discovered two Facebook pages that are very antagonistic against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The first group is called Challenging Mormon Apologetics and the second uses the deceptive title of Mormon & LDS Facts. Both sites have subsequently banned me. Regarding their reasoning, the CMA page posted this comment: “No, Timothy [...] Read More →

The Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

To accomplish this purpose, Heavenly Father provided a plan called the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ [...] Read More →
Misconceptions, Testimony etc.
[Edited for some glaring grammatical mistakes, and begging for your understanding regarding the remaining ones.] I’ve been thinking–and of course reading–about the so-called shaken faith thing. What I’m about to say, is given without documentation, just some personal observation. Look forward to my presentation of some of the “hidden” Mormon history (usually “hidden” in the [...] Read More →
What does Christmas mean to me?
First, a disclaimer; while I don’t claim to represent the Church or the official standpoint of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (what I usually incorrectly call “LDS Church”), I consider myself a faithful Latter-day Saint, and I am a member in good standing–still my blog posts are my sole responsibility, and nobody [...] Read More →
Participating in God’s Great Latter-day Work
Jeremiah lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem This Sunday I am substituting for one of the regular instructors in Gospel Doctrine class. Lesson 42 involves chapters 16, 23, 29, and 31 of Jeremiah. The purpose of the lesson is to encourage class members to participate in God’s great latter-day work and to have his law written in their hearts. In my weekly email to Daniel I asked him to write a few sentences about participating in God’s great latter-day work as a missionary. I would then read his reply to the class. Here is his response: Participating in God’s great latter-day work as a missionary has increased my understanding of how much God truly loves His children. Every day we go out on our bikes in all types of weather to try and share a message about Jesus Christ and the opportunity we have to repent each day. As I know personally the message I share is true, it would make sense that millions would gladly accept the message and feel of the peace I have. Although we are... Read the rest of this entry »
Mormonism and the Doctrine of the Trinity
Particular doctrines, specific beliefs, and sacred rites of passages of most religions set forth, in what James Talmage refers to as, “formulated creeds” (Talmage, 1976). One of the very first of these creeds ever to have established did not come out of the First Century of the Common Era but came out of the third [...] Read More →
