(The first part of this post is in Czech. Read the rest of this entry »

Finding and Sharing the Gospel Online
This is the introduction of a very good article on the last Ensign, October 2009, about sharing our beliefs online by Michelle Stocking of the Church Magazines (link to the full article). After years of harboring bitterness and anger, Derick Fitch of Indiana felt as though he had hit a dead end. He decided he had enough and wanted to change. That decision led him to do something he had never done before: search for God. So Derick did what he typically did when he wanted to find information: he went to the Internet. Not only would that give him quick, easy access to information, it would also allow him to conduct his search privately, without making any commitments. Derick decided to begin his Internet search by looking for information on “the Mormon Church” because of a television commercial he remembered from his teenage years. “My search led me to an LDS-related site that had exactly what I was looking for—a message board where I could confidentially post questions about... MGF Sites and Connections Lead to LDS Baptism
A gentleman visiting our video conversion stories, listened to one of them four times, and then requested a Book of Mormon. After reading and studying the Book of Mormon twice with online resources, and visiting other positive MGF and LDS sites, he began missionary lessons and joined LDS.net. He recently set a baptismal date. Please follow the nudge if you feel one to post your conversion story online, or to participate in some way in this effort to share our faith globally. For more information, see ways to help, on this site, or send your comment or question to us. Hi Karen, Great to hear from you! Yes, it is true, I have a date set for the 29th of March to be baptized. I am so excited! I am going to be baptized in Huntington due to the fact that the ward that I belong to, is still under renovation. From what I understand it will be another 6 weeks or so before the [other] chapel is ready. Do you want to know another neat thing? One of the other guys on LDS.net was scheduled... Mormon Mission President in Rome, Italy
The current Mission President in the Rome, Italy area is President Jeffrey Acerson, from Lindon Utah. He himself served as a missionary in the Italy Milan and Italy Padova Missions. Prior to his calling to preside over Saints and friends of other faiths in the Rome area, President Acerson served as a counselor in the Lindon Stake Presidency (a stake is an area that includes multiple wards or congregations of believers). While serving as counselor, without pay, as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do, Jeff Acerson also worked as Mayor of the Lindon City. President Acerson shared in one of his final meetings as counselor in Lindon, his impressions through the Spirit, that this sacred call was imminent. Those feelings were ratified when the actual call from the leaders of the Church came to him and was extended in the presence of himself and his wife, Karen. Karen has served in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (”Mormon”... Read the rest of this entry »
Matt Durazzani Reflects on Rome, Italy Mormon Temple
Matt Durazzani served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Rome Italy mission from January 1999 to January of 2001. During his two-year service as a Mormon missionary–whose time is committed to teaching about the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth–Matt (Elder Durazzani) was assigned to serve as Assistant to the Mission President. Rome, Italy Temple Site Photo: Clark Harrop Elder Durazzani, along with other elders who assisted the Mission President, actually lived in the very home that is situated on the highest part of the hill on the acquired land for the Rome, Italy temple! Four to six elders at a time, who were assisting in the Mormon Mission Office, stayed in that spacious home–with a rustic unfinished lower level, bunks on the next, and living quarters with a kitchen on the higher level. Recently, Matt and I visited as he reflected on his time in that home and his missionary experiences, and the significance... Read the rest of this entry »
