When it hits home

Posted by On January - 5 - 2011

The father looks up wistfully from his reading; another argument and another angry outburst of frustration. It had been only a couple of years yesterday when his youngest son announced that he and his young family had left The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And when his son came to visit with his [...]  Read More →

Chinese Media

I read an interesting article on CNN today. A famous Chinese blogger named Han Han who created magazine and tried to get it published, but had difficulty getting it through the government approval system. Article. The writer mentions two interesting things that may be of interest to those wishing to see the gospel spread throughout [...]  Read More →

The Story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Goldilocks. She went for a walk in the forest. Pretty soon, she came upon a house. She knocked and, when no one answered, she walked right in. At the table in the kitchen, there were three bowls of porridge. Goldilocks was hungry. She tasted the porridge from the first bowl. “This porridge is too hot!” she exclaimed. So, she tasted the porridge from the second bowl. “This porridge is too cold,” she said So, she tasted the last bowl of porridge. “Ahhh, this porridge is just right,” she said happily and she ate it all up. After she’d eaten the three bears’ breakfasts she decided she was feeling a little tired. So, she walked into the living room where she saw three chairs. Goldilocks sat in the first chair to rest her feet. “This chair is too big!” she exclaimed. So she sat in the second chair. “This chair is too big, too!”... Read the rest of this entry »

You are Called To Serve

Posted by On October - 26 - 2010

I found a little church pamphlet at a used book store called “You are called to Serve” 因此你被召喚去服務 printed in 1969. The curious thing about it is that the scripture references inside refer to the Doctrine & Covenants as 聖教義和約言. A little different then we now know. Check it out:  Read More →

Particular doctrines, specific beliefs, and sacred rites of passages of most religions set forth, in what James Talmage refers to as, “formulated creeds” (Talmage, 1976). One of the very first of these creeds ever to have established did not come out of the First Century of the Common Era but came out of the third [...]  Read More →

Timothy Plumlee, an Associate Content Contributor, had written an article that makes a very weak attempt at discrediting the LDS Church. While you can still read my response to him at my AC page, the conversations are a bit entertaining, especially coming from him. I have pulled my comments and his comments together to share [...]  Read More →

Commitment to the Gospel of Christ

Posted by On October - 1 - 2010

Making Commitments in the Gospel Commitments are easier made than kept.  With a single declaration, one can write a check larger than can ever be cashed.  While bouncing a check is criminal, there is nothing more commonplace nor often inconsequential (to the breaker) as a commitment not kept.  Perhaps if our promises required ready money as backing, our verbal bank accounts would not be so frequently overdrawn. Some avoid breaking promise by never making them.  Others, ever evasive, can never quite be pinned down.  Most just make promises – and if they break them – “my bad.”  And every once in a while, one is found that actually keeps his word, whatever be the cost.  God, whose very “word [shall] stand for ever” (Isa. 40:8), does not uphold “trucebreakers” (2 Tim. 3:3), treasuring instead covenant keepers (see Ex. 19:5).  Yet, being lukewarm – refusing to say “yeah” or “nay” – is equally distasteful (see Rev. 3:15).    God requires an affirmative commitment... Read the rest of this entry »

The other day, I happened to post on Mormon Apologetics Discussion Board a brief and quick topic on the parallelism that exists between some of those on the Liberal side of politic’s and those who are critic’s of the Mormon faith. In full context, here is the original posting. Recently, I started listening to AM [...]  Read More →
