I grow weary of the pontificating taking place on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The Democrats want to keep wildly spending with no restrictions. The Republicans are playing at making cuts, but none of them real. In the meantime, here are the things Barack Obama conveniently left out of his brief speech of casting blame: 1. The economic growth of America for the last six months is a dismal 1.3% under Barack Obama and Harry Reid’s watch. Why do I say under their watch? Because Republicans have passed plan after plan all to be stalled in the U.S. Senate by Senator Harry Reid. Thanks, Nevada, really appreciate the stumbling block you gave us! But Obama didn’t think it important to include that in his speech. 2. Democrats had four years to rectify our now $14.5 trillion debt. But instead, they added almost $4 trillion to it, and want to add another $2.4 trillion without the rectifying of our grossly bloated government and their spending habits. But NOW they find it convenient... Read the rest of this entry »

What Barack Obama left OUT of his speech
A Cause Worth Perfecting
With the news that Michelle Obama was in Utah today, AND she raised $420,000 from gullible Utahns who apparently have not paid attention to what has been going on in America for the last three years, I’ve been pondering quite a bit. You all know I am the co-host (to Tim Aalders) of KTALK AM 630′s Buy Back America. It is an honor and privilege to be on air 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, talking of the state of America’s Main Street, K Street, Washington, D.C. as a whole, the Obama Administration, Congress, conservatives and liberals throughout the nation, promoting small business, etc. Through the course of these months, as America’s economic and constitutional positions have grown more and more precarious, there has been a sense of urgency growing in the conservative movement across the nation. This is an urgency that is 10-fold in my own heart. I know I cannot save America by myself. I know there are millions across America joined in this great cause to preserve... Declaration of Restoration for America
Please, I am asking each of you to help spread the word about the Declaration of Restoration across America as we recreate Reagan’s “morning in America” again. Join us in this effort and invite all your friends to do the same. Let the fire of the American spirit sweep across this land in a bid to restore the Republic. One voice added to millions can restore America to the dream which has been the hope of generations upon generations. Even a $5 donation will go a long way in helping take the Declaration of Restoration to Washington, D.C. and across America. Let’s see if we can bring tens of millions to this event with the power of word of mouth. Facebook Event: Declaration of Restoration from America “When in the course of human events…” these words began the creation of a nation which surpassed all others in the world. This monumental, historical document went on to say, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they... Read the rest of this entry »
Thomas Jefferson’s Last Words to America
Respected Sir: The kind invitation I received from you, on the part of the citizens of the city of Washington, to be present with them at their celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of American Independence, as one of the surviving signers of an instru-ment, pregnant with our own and the fate of the world, is most flattering to myself, and heightened by the honorable accompaniment proposed for the comfort of such a journey. It adds sensibly to the sufferings of sickness, to be deprived by it of a personal participation in the rejoicings of that day; but acquiescence is a duty under circumstances not placed among those we are permitted to control. I should, indeed, with peculiar delight, have met and exchanged there congratulations, personally, with the small band, the remnant of that host of worthies who joined with us on that day, in the bold and doubtful election we were to make, for our country, between sub-mission and the sword; and to have enjoyed with them the... America the Beautiful
I go to a Samoan ward with my sweet husband, so I rarely hear any hymns in English anymore. And yes, I miss them very much. But yesterday we sang America the Beautiful for the opening hymn and it was beautiful. The words struck deeper, carried more meaning, and I actually felt my heart overwhelmed with feelings of deep love and admiration for the founding generation of America. So many nitpick dates, who should be celebrating what and hwen, etc. However, I really believe the power of America lies in the heart of the American people and our acknowledgement of our God as the provider of this great nation. As the events in Washington, D.C. continue unfold, and not to the benefit of the American people, there are but a few in Congress willing to fight that good fight, I have come to realize that the salvation of America lies with the American people. In all honesty, this is what the Buy Back America Radio National Bus Tour is all about, uniting America. Reminding the American people... Read the rest of this entry »

The Candace E. Salima Daily
Here’s a fun little app geared toward my tweets! It’s called paper li and it creates an electronic newspaper from 24 hours of my tweets, every day. How fun is that! Paperli.PaperWidget.Show({ pid: 'CandaceSalima/1309095995', width: 400, background: '#FB0000' }) As I’ve gone from author, to businesswoman, to publisher, to short-lived TV host, to radio talk show host, I’ve been amazed at the twist and turns my life has taken. Really, life throws curves at us sometimes that knock us down and can keep us down if we’re not determined to get back up. It could be a financial, illness, legal, friends, or family juggernaut. But I really believe, regardless of what comes our way, that if we kneel in prayer morning and night, remember to turn to the scriptures for our inspiration and answers, stay fully aware of life going on around us, both the good and the bad, that we can make it through just about anything. For me life revolves around my religion, my... Read the rest of this entry »
We Must Rise to the Call
Vitriol is rising to alarming levels between political parties, religions, and between those supporting different candidates. As these levels continue to rise I am struck by the knowledge that in dividing us the liberals will have to do very little to defeat us. We must put aside our differences if we hope to save America and restore the Constitutional Republic we all hold so dear. Will you rise to the call, or wallow in manufactured hate? As the 2012 campaign cycle begins, the hate is already bubbling to the surface. We have Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Allen West, Herman Cain, Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul and more, and already the lines are dividing and instead of sticking with issues, the name-calling, ridicule and animosity toward each other is already escalating and we are eighteen months away from the actual election. Tell me why, when we all have the same goal in mind, to restore a constitutional republic, are we fighting amongst ourselves this way? Why can we not allow... Read the rest of this entry »
WHAT DO WE REALLY WANT IN A LEADER?
I spent much of Presidents’ Day at the ER with my husband. Gratefully, he’s fine, but I missed the chance for my annual rant about the dissing of poor George Washington. Again I say. the more you know, the more you understand, but Americans have short memories, or maybe I should say that Americans in many cases have little knowledge, and that is both disheartening and worrisome. The old saying about those who forget the past are destined to repeat it? Apply that logic to the people we place on pedestals and then set in the White House. On February 18, Gallup released the latest presidential poll. President Reagan was the winner, in fact, this question has been asked eight times in the last twelve years and the winner has consistently been Lincoln, Clinton or Reagan. George Washington, the father of our country, the leader of the Continental Army, victor of the Revolutionary War, the glue that held the Constitutional Convention together, beloved first President of the nation,... MORE THAN JUST THE WORDS WERE MISSING
People are still expressing disappointment in Christina Aguilera’s Super Bowl performance of the national anthem, but they might want to thank her as well. For many Americans, the criticism raised over her forgetting the words to the third line was secondary to another concern—that her overstylized take on the “Star-Spangled Banner” failed to honor the song, and that raises a valuable discussion. Some have remarked that the producers of the Super Bowl got what they should have expected. This is simply how the lady sings. The simple truth is this—some songs are bigger than the performance, no matter who is behind the mike. The “Star-Spangled Banner” is one of these. Whitney Houston understood this. Her Super Bowl performance during the Persian Gulf War was stylish and superb, but her dynamics and phrasing showcased the words and left hearts stirred. She didn’t divide us generationally into the old and young, hip and unhip. She sang to all of us, to one nation, to the future,... Read the rest of this entry »
The Hidden and Underlying Message
Introduction Westboro Baptist Church is at the center of another controversy. This time, it is over the tragic shooting that occurred in Tucson, Arizona. Why the notoriety of this particular group of people? They have been known to picket funerals – including Gordon B. Hinckley’s funeral. Many people are up in arms over the tactics and methodology [...] Read More →
My Top Quote from 1974
Every year, Fred Shapiro puts out his “Top Ten Quotes of the Year.” This year, he created a new list, and gives his reason for his top pick: Fred Shapiro, Yale University “People resented the fact that [Hayward] was wanting to get back to his yacht races and other aspects of his normal life when those little problems were dwarfed by the magnitude of what people on the Gulf Coast were dealing with,” Shapiro said. Here’s the whole top 10 list (courtesy of the AP):1. (TIE) “I’m not a witch.” Christine O’Donnell, television advertisement, Oct. 4.1. (TIE) “I’d like my life back.” Tony Hayward, comment to reporters, May 30.3. “If you touch my junk, I’m gonna have you arrested.” airline passenger John Tyner, speaking to Transportation Security Administration worker at San Diego International Airport, Nov. 13.4. “Don’t retreat.
