Family Christmas Activities

December 2008 017I am so excited for Christmas!  Actually, I am excited for this whole month.  We have already scheduled out pretty much everything we want to do, including who we would like to deliver goodies to.

Our family plans on giving treats to a family every Monday this December, having someone over for dinner twice, we’re delivering dinner to a family on the 18th, Saturday we are going out to breakfast followed by chopping down our own tree, we have our ward (congregation) party that day too, we had our First Presidency Devotional last night, we have our Stake Devotional on the 20th, and tonight we are going to visit a beautiful garden not too far away that displays Christmas lights that look like various kinds of flowers, animals, grave vines, etc.  It never gets old for us because it’s so amazing and we hope to be able to design our own display someday.  They even have classes to teach people how to do it and at the same time, you can help with the display.  I hope we will have that opportunity next year.

Oh, I almost forgot.  We need to plan a time to make a gingerbread house.  That’s one of our favorite things to do together too.  It’s going to be a month of treat baking, Christmas movie watching, hot chocolate drinking (I’ve been making some from scratch and it’s delicious!), Christmas music singing, and hopefully some sledding too.  Last year we had the first white Christmas in a long time and we made wonderful memories together.

I still have more things I want to do if we can squeeze it in and afford it.  A friend of mine is on a trip and I would love to surprise her in some way when she comes back, maybe have a meal waiting for her and a beautifully decorated living room.

In a couple hours, I am going to my friend’s for her yearly traditional Christmas centerpiece making party.  I’m not very crafty, but these are easy and they’re not something you keep forever.

What are your plans for the month of December?  Any favorite recipes you would like to share?
