Rough Weekend

Posted by On June - 9 - 2010

My weekend was busy and exhausting.

Friday night my husband took the boys camping while I hung out with our daughter.  Saturday I waited around for a new oven to be delivered and then I was thrilled to head off to my best friend’s house for a girls’ night.  We played games and ordered pizza.  She mentioned that her daughter had been sick with a fever and I commented, “My kids rarely get fevers for some reason.”  She said, “That’s because they make up for it by throwing-up.”  Yes, they do have that tendency.

So speak of the devil!  When I got home, my oldest son was vomiting and that lasted until 3am or so.  I woke up too late to get someone to sub for me at church, so I let him rest on the couch while we went to the last couple hours.  I thought maybe it was something he ate and while we were waiting for a friend to help give him a priesthood blessing, our daughter suddenly became lethargic and developed a high fever.  Both of them received blessings and made it through rather well.  My daughter did a lot better than expected, but I spent another night awake until 3 or 4am.

The following morning, I was getting my other two ready for school and realized they had no dry shoes because of the campout.  My youngest located some rain boots and my husband said, “He should have brought those on the campout.”  Hahahaha!  Yeah, what a great idea!  I wish we had thought of that.

Then his backpack went missing (turns out it was in my husband’s truck) and right before I left to drive them to school, I walked out of the bathroom and found my husband stuck on the floor due to severe back pain.  He just reached up to get something and it started the spasm from heck.

So I had two recovering children to take care of, plus my husband, and I had to take my daughter for a ride in the car, risking getting vomit everywhere because my husband couldn’t move at the moment.  I sent my crying Kindergartner into school (still very upset about his backpack) and rushed to get home to see what I could do to get my husband off the floor before I headed to physical therapy for my own back trouble .  Luckily, he was able to get up, but he hasn’t been able to drive to work.

I’m thinking my dream of moving at the end of this month might not happen.  Anyone else having a chaotic week?
